Plants for drought

We do not water the garden so the plants do need to be able to tolerate periods of drought and these can often last for some months.  We do water new plants for their first year to ensure they establish, heavily irrigating occasionally to encourage deep rooting.

Some of the plants often advised for dry places turned up their toes here, some have proved themselves to be exceptionally drought tolerant and the most outstanding are pictured here:
