Will someone from the garden be available on site?

Yes one of our responsible people will be onsite during the day though out of sight.

What is the square metrage of the building?
Floorplans of the building are available on request

What are your capacities?
Building - 30 seated
The front of the building opens up which increases capacity as it joins up the outside and inside. Rest of garden - up to 120 people

 

Is the Phoenix Garden able to provide catering?
No, but we can put you in touch with our Partner Charity, The Seven Dials Club, who have a wealth of catering experience. You are also welcome to bring in your own caterers with their own equipment as needed for your function.

Does the Phoenix Garden have an alcohol license?
No the garden does not have a license to sell alcohol, but you are able to bring your own alcohol and give it to your guests.
Please note that in the case of weddings you may not consume alcohol inside the wedding venue (the building) before or during the ceremony. You and your guests may enjoy a drink in the garden however prior to the ceremony. Once the ceremony is over you may drink in the building.

Does the Phoenix Garden provide a registrar for weddings and civil partnerships?
We have contacts with Camden’s registrar and can organise the registrar for your ceremony. Their fee will be added to our hire fee.

Does the Phoenix Garden provide furniture?
We have 20 chairs and 3 trestle tables that we can provide.

Can I have a marquee in the Garden?
We have a space directly in front of the building which can comfortably fit a 6m X 3m marquee, which we can also provide.

Can I close the Garden to all except my guests?
In the case of a full garden hire yes. In the case of a half garden hire we will fence off the area from along the building up to the edge of the central path.


In the case of a wedding you are obliged by law to open the garden to the public. However we would put a sign up outside the building saying WEDDING IN PROGRESS during the ceremony which should deter visitors. Once the ceremony is finished you may then lock the garden for your exclusive use if required.

Does the building have kitchen facilities?
Yes we have a small kitchenette with an under counter fridge, dishwasher, double oven and hob.

Does the building and garden cater for people with mobility issues?
The building is accessible at street and garden ends for those with mobility issues, with step free access, and a wheelchair accessible toilet. Garden paths are also largely wheelchair accessible.

How late can we stay at the Garden?
Due to residential properties overlooking the garden, we ask that parties finish by 9pm. We can recommend late night venues nearby for those wishing to continue their party later into the evening.

Do hirers have to clean up?
We ask that you take care of minor spillages on the day of your function at your discretion. Our responsible person will be on hand in the case of major cleaning issues. Apart from that, we will arrange all cleaning of the building and garden after your function, the cost of which will be built into the hire fee.

Where are the fire exits?
Via the garden gate on St. Giles passage, and via the building street door on New Compton Street
