We are a thriving community here at the Phoenix Garden. We hold regular volunteer days where you can roll your sleeves up and get stuck in with the gardens various chores, whilst learning about plants and nature and socialising with enthusiastic, like mined people.
Throughout the year we throw various get togethers for members of the garden and of our local community, providing an excellent opportunity to get to know the neighbours and strengthen our community spirit. Recent events have included a Day of the Dead celebration (complete with pinnate and marriachi band) and a traditional English Wassail in the Orchard end of the garden, to bless the apple harvest. Life-long friendships have formed between children and families who consider the Phoenix Garden, their own back yard. Our gardener, Chris, is never short of people to share a cup of tea with, as long time visitors of the garden drop by for a friendly chat and a biscuit.
In addition to being a hub for the local community we run various classes and workshops throughout the year. From Chair Yoga, to Pot Making Workshops and Craft Evenings. Often these activities are free or subsidised for friends of the garden or residents of the local area so if you see something that interests you, why not sign up or pop in. Check our Activities schedule for times and dates.
