7 April

Wildflower identification & seed planting.  Join us for a relaxed and engaging wildflower identification session, where we’ll step outside and explore the rich variety of plants in our garden. Using a combination of field guides and digital tools, we’ll work together to identify and learn about the wildflowers that thrive here.

As we uncover their names, characteristics, and traditional uses, we’ll also create clear, informative labels to display throughout the garden. These will not only help us deepen our own understanding, but will also allow visitors to connect with and learn from the natural space around them.

In addition, we’ll plant a selection of vegetable seeds in pots for you to take home or you could leave them with us to germinate and plant in the garden at a later session.

14 April

Object handling at the London Transport Museum.  A member of the museum team will meet us at 13:00 at the entrance and show us to our assigned room.  Working with a group of 10 at a time, our guide will we show us a selection of objects that were commonly used on buses and trains in past decades.  The rest of the group will explore the museum housing 200 years of transport history.

We will then swap over and the second group will take part in the object handling session while the first group is free to explore the rest of the museum.  There’s plenty to see and we can take our time.

The museum is located in Covent Garden, WC2E 7BB and is easily accessible by public transport. The nearest Underground stations are Covent Garden (Piccadilly line), Leicester Square (Piccadilly and Northern lines), and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines). Bus routes 11, 15, 26, 76, 172, and 341 serve the area.

Meet at the museum entrance at 13:00 or meet at The Phoenix Garden at 12:30 and we can walk there together.

21 April

Good to Grow Week.  Plant a mini herb garden.  Suitable for windowsills, balconies or gardens.  Bring your own pot if you have one (or we have plenty) and we will plant 2 herbs plug plants each.  Choose from coriander, mint, parsley, chives, sage or oregano. We’ll also plant a selection of herb seeds for you to take home or leave with us to plant in the garden at a future session.

28 April

Dried leaf & flower art.  As a group, we’ll create a large collaborate piece with each person contributing their own unique “arrangement in a box”.  We’ll create origami box frames within which we’ll paste dried leaves and flowers and other treasures from nature.  These will be attached round the edge of a large piece of cardboard making a frame.  This will be our poetry board upon which we will display poetry created at a future session.
