…a haven for wildlife and people

The Phoenix Garden Community Building

As a charity not in receipt of any regular funding, we rely heavily on the income from hires to generate the 100k per anum running costs of maintaining the garden for the benefit of wildlife and people, and running our community and outreach activities.

Our RIBA award winning (2021) community building was designed by Gurmeet Sian and completed in 2016. The building provides us the space we need to run the charity, host events, run volunteer workdays, and community and education workshops. It is super-insulated and heated with an air-source heat pump. It has a biodiverse brown roof, a rooftop propagation area and rainwater catchment.

Our building is fully accessible from both Stacey Street and the Garden. We have two bathrooms (one accessible) and a small kitchenette equipped with oven, microwave, fridge freezer, boiling water tap and dishwasher.

The space is awash in natural light from the skylights and 4 sets of double doors that open up directly onto the garden.
